AEW Dynasty 12th April 2026 Recap

The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) vs Konosuke Takeshita & Kazuchika Okada. Don Callis is on commentary. Everyone is wearing suits on commentary (the team is Nigel McGuinness, Excalibur & Tony Sciavone). Big cheers for Okada as he made his entrance. Holy shit chants before the match even started. Okada offered Takeshita his hand for a handshake but Takeshita refused it. A couple of minutes into the match, he offered his hand again and Takeshita accepted it. There was a Fuck Don Callis chant, Takeshita brought Matt Jackson over to commentary and Callis tried to gouge his eye, the crowd then chanted Fuck Don Callis again. During the match Okada dressed up in the Young Bucks gear and went in their corner and pretended to offer a tag to Matt Jackson then flipped him off. This reminds me of the stories of Okada wearing Nick Jackson's gear backstage at New Japan shows. The crowd were massively into this match. At one point both Takeshita and Okada were in sharpshooters facing each other, Takeshita stopped Okada from tapping and both men then started slapping each other to fire up and make it to the ropes. The Young Bucks were phenomenal. Multiple This Is Awesome and AEW chants during this one. They did a 3 man German Suplex spot where Matt hit a sunset flip over everyone.

A series of big moves as you'd imagine resulted in the fans giving all men a standing ovation. Okada and Takeshita were delivering forearm strikes to the Bucks. Then Okada struck Takeshita, and they started exchanging strikes, seemingly out of nowhere. Okada went for a rainmaker on Matt but Matt ducked and he put the brakes on to stop himself from hitting Takeshita with it. Matt then pushed Okada into Takeshita and rolled him up for a 2 count. Takeshita went for the Powerdrive knee on Matt, who moved and he connected on Okada by accident. Nick hit a poison rana on Takeshita, the Bucks went for the BTE trigger but Takeshita overpowered them and hit a double clothesline. Takeshita went for a suplex on Matt, but Okada pulled him down, grabbed Matt and went for the rainmaker but he dodged it and Okada hit Takeshita instead. Okada showed little remorse. Okada ate multiple superkicks from the Bucks and then the BTE Trigger but Okada got the shoulder up at 2! Tony says Okada has the heart of a champion. The Bucks set Okada up for the TK Driver, but Takeshita grabs Nick's leg to stop him, then lets go so he can hit the move. Bucks connect and get the 3 count on Okada as Don Callis looks on in shock on commentary and the fans go wild. Callis asks for a replay, Tony says we don't need a replay. Takeshita gets in the ring after the match and flips Okada off as he lies there knocked out. They show a replay of the finish, and Don Callis is in the ring checking on Okada.Winners: The Young Bucks

Video package of Jericho's return and Ricochet interrupting and being put on the list.

Ricochet vs. Jericho. Ricochet comes out first flanked by the GOA. Jericho gets pyro and a strong reaction, fans sing along to Judas. Jericho has black sparkly tights and a purple leather jacket. Loud Jericho chants at the start of this one. Nigel says he has a hero's welcome. Jericho pumps the crowd up and they go even crazier for him, more Jericho chants and he stands on the second turnbuckle. Nigel says Jericho got a standing ovation without doing anything. Jericho does an arm drag and fans chant "You still got it" Jericho goes to a camera and says "I never lost it". Jericho took the cameraman's camera and pointed it at Ricochet then said "He's bald". At one point Ricochet went for a Shooting Star Press but Jericho countered it into a Codebreaker. The story of this one was Jericho couldn't get the Walls of Jericho on Ricochet without GOA interfering. He took Kaun out with a Judas Effect but Liona wiped him out on the outside, threw him back in the ring. Ricochet hit a Shooting Star Press for a 2 count. Followed it up with the Spirit Gun, then hit the Lionsault for the 3 count. Jericho was a little rusty, but they still had a very good match, and they did get a This is Awesome chant out of the crowd too. I was slightly surprised at the finish, but I think the Jericho return is about showing a different side to him, as in the past the fans disliked him taking the spotlight from younger guys, you can't say he did that here. Winner: Ricochet

We're almost an hour into the show.

Darby Allin vs. Andrade El Idolo video package and that match is up next.

Darby Allin vs. Andrade El Idolo. Darby has a pink fur coat on during his entrance. Nigel says this could be a #1 contender match. Andrade did The Tranquilo pose in between the middle and top ropes, Darby did his crazy dive into Andrade while he did the pose. Andrade got the better of him, he posed on the outside with a woman in the front row, then Darby hit a Coffin Drop to him off the top turnbuckle as he turned around. You could hear the discomfort from Nigel at how reckless that was. Andrade hit the back of his head on the guard rail. Darby fought with Andrade amongst the fans and up the steps. Darby did a shotgun dropkick to Andrade on the steps, so he landed back first, again Nigel couldn't believe he'd do that and showed such disregard for his own body. That's my concern with him being World Champion is that you don't want a World Champion who would be potentially injured. Darby did his crazy dive to the outside and almost overshot it, he hit Andrade but also collided with the commentary table. That got a Holy Shit chant. Darby then set Andrade up on a chair and did his crazy shotgun dropkick off the top turnbuckle to the outside. I've said this before but it's essentially a back bump off the top to the floor. Andrade suplexed Darby from inside the ring to the outside while he was on the apron, Darby landed hard on the floor. More Holy Shit chants from the crowd. Andrade removed his pants to reveal tiny yellow trunks to Holy Shit chants. So that is something he does, I wasn't sure if Don Callis was joking a couple of weeks ago. Darby hit a Scorpion Death Drop and a Coffin Drop, Andrade put his hand up and grabbed referee Aubrey Edwards arm to stop her counting 3. Darby got a roll-up pin for the 3 count, he looked like he was going for a Sharpshooter but instead of turning Andrade over for the submission, he turned it into a pin for the win. Post-match Andrade looked distraught. Darby had blood coming from his mouth, but is now the number one contender. Both men got to their feet, Andrade offered a handshake and raised Darby's hand. Winner: Darby Allin

AEW World Tag Team Championship: Cope & Cage vs. FTR ©. Cope came out first to a big reaction, Justin Roberts took over ring announcing duties. The crowd continued to sing Cope’s music. Christian came out with his left arm heavily taped after FTR’s attack on Dynamite. Nigel put Christian over as possibly the greatest TNT champion of all time. FTR came out with Stokely who was wearing Christian’s watch. Nigel questioned whether Christian could trust Copeland. The crowd sang the Canadian national anthem. Nigel said Cope and Cage are such great Canadians that they moved to Florida the first chance they got. Cope started the match and was worked over by FTR, he got a hot tag to Christian. Christian got the better of Cash & Dax. Dax attempted a Killswitch on Christian, but Christian got it on Dax, then Cash broke up the pin and they worked over his injured arm, wrapping it around the ring post and applying various arm submissions. Christian managed a top rope headbutt and got a hot tag to Cope. Cope hit the Impaler DDT on Dax for a 2 count. Cope hit a Superplex on Dax, Christian came off the top with a splash but Dax got knees up, Cash came off the top with a Splash on Cope but Cope got the knees up. Cope put Dax in the Edgecator I believe it was called, a modified Sharpshooter/Cloverleaf submission. Then transitioned into a Crossface. Cash tried to interrupt but Christian put one on him too. Cash bit his bad arm to get out of the hold, then scoop slammed Christian on top of Cope. Cash grabbed a title belt but Christian stopped him and they had a tug of war over it. Cash was inside the ring, Christian outside the ring, Cope rolled up Dax but he kicked out, as he kicked out, the belt hit Cope in the face, but the ref didn’t see it. Dax covered Cope immediately but only got a 2 count. Cope was busted open from that, FTR set up Christian for the Shatter Machine but Cope stopped it. C&C hit a 3D on Dax but he kicked out at 2.

Cope is really bleeding. They set up for a double team move but Stoke dropped Christian off the ring apron, the ref missed this but Cope saw it and chased after Stoke, Stoke ran into the ring and FTR hit Cope with the Shatter Machine. Christian tossed Stoke into the ring causing him to break up the pin. Dax argued with Stoke as the fans chant You Fucked Up. Stoke tries to blame the referee and shoves him, the ref Paul Turner shoved him back and Stoke flew out of the ring. Cope hit a spear on Dax, but the pin was broken up by Cash. Cash went for a chair on the outside, Christian got it from him and went to hit him but Stoke grabbed hold of it, Christian shoved the chair into Stoke which sent him into the ring post. Cash pushed Christian into the post too, and his arm collided with the chair. Cash then launched him into the time keeper area and over the time keeper’s table. FTR are alone with Cope in the ring. Cope fought them off but ended up exhausted, Dax kicked him in the stomach, FTR then mockingly hit “super kicks” to Cope, mocking The Young Bucks and the crowd booed this. FTR then went for their own version of a BTE trigger, but Cope dodged it and hit a double spear. AEW chants from the fans. Cope tried to pull himself up in the corner, went for a Spear on Cash but Cash leaped over with a sunset flip then rolled him out and FTR hit the Shatter Machine for the 3 count. Audible groans from the fans who I think were expecting a title change here. Winners: FTR © Post-match Dax kissed the tag belt, Cash showed appreciation to Cope. Christian was still down in the time keeper area. Dax was trying to wind up the fans in the front row. Stoke looked relieved as FTR headed up the ramp. Christian got back in the ring with a steel chair in hand and the doctor is checking on Cope in the ring.

They show a backstage attack from the pre-show where Camille attacked Willow Nightingale. I have no idea who Camille is but she looks tall and has red hair. Willow cuts a promo saying if she wanted a title match then she should have just asked, she may not be 100% now but she will stop her comeback before it starts and will defend the TBS title on Dynamite.

Casino Gauntlet Match for the TNT Championship. Tomasso Ciampa is #1 and Rush is #2 During Ciampa’s entrance, Bryan Danielson replaced Nigel McGuinness on commentary. We’re approaching 2 hours into the show at this point. Commentary put over the need for these guys to finish the match as soon as possible. Bryan said he wrestled Rush once and he felt it for months. Tony says both of these men are two of the toughest in AEW. Entry #3 is Bandido. Bandido takes both guys out and the fans chant for Bandido, he paid tribute to Brody King with a Cannonball in the corner, hit a Frog Splash on Rush but Ciampa broke up the pin. Rush sends Bandido to the outside and launches him into the guard rails. Rush tries to rip Bandido’s mask off. Entry #4 was “Speedball” Mike Bailey. He hits a Moonsault off the top rope to Rush on the outside, then a Missile Dropkick to Ciampa off the top, and a Standing Shooting Star Press for a two count on Ciampa. Rush and Bailey have a chop exchange. Entry #5 is El Clon. Rush goes to intercept him on the outside but he eats a superkick, Clon dodges Ciampa and hits a Pele kick, then kicks Bailey on the apron. In the ring he does a tilt-a-whirl into a double knees back breaker on Bandido for a two count. Entry #6 is PAC who makes his entrance through the crowd. Excalibur and Bryan put PAC over on commentary. PAC with a pump kick on Ciampa, a German Suplex on Clon, and an overhead Belly to Belly suplex in the corner on Bailey. Excalibur says it was a Bailey to Bailey suplex. Tony thinks PAC is the favourite. PAC with a Black Arrow off the top wiping everyone out on the floor. PAC and Speedball are in the ring, then Bandido joins them in the ring. Crazy sequence of moves culminates with stereo superkicks from Bandido & Bailey on PAC. Entry #7 is Daniel Garcia who runs out through the crowd, he goaded Bailey into a dive, and moved out of the way. He rolled up Bandido for two near falls, Ciampa came in and Garcia got two roll-ups for near falls on him too, before sending him to the outside. Bryan puts over Garcia’s strategy going for quick pins. Garcia plays to the crowd and turns around into a kick from El Clon. Garcia goes for a small package and both men keep countering each other’s pin attempts, rolling around in a small package while the ref Bryce Remsburg tries to keep up with them. PAC comes back in and the Death Riders work over Clon.

Entry #8 is Anthony Bowens, he’s lucky to be in the match really since he lost the qualifying match on Collision. He takes out both PAC and Garcia, hits a Fameasser on Bandido and the fans chant “Oh Scissor Me Daddy”. Bowens hits a unique Flapjack move on Clon. Bailey comes back in with kicks, Bowens with a dragon screw that takes Bailey out who rolls to the outside. PAC comes back in and talks trash to Bowens, they exchange strikes. Bowens hits a twisting draping DDT on PAC but Ciampa breaks it up and he and Rush work Bowens over with stomps. Ciampa scissors Bowens and he throws him to the outside and gives direction to Rush. Entry #9 is “The Jet” Kevin Knight. Rush and Ciampa charge at him on the ramp, Knight dodges Rush and clotheslines Ciampa. Rush comes back at him and knocks him down, then Bailey hits a Triangle Moonsault to take out Rush and Jet Speed celebrate together. In the ring Garcia and PAC challenge Jet Speed to get in the ring and they exchange strikes. Knight and Bailey with stereo clotheslines to the Death Riders sending them to the outside, then follow up with planchas over the top. Bailey & Knight eye each other up and go to enter the ring to face each other, but Garcia drops Knight and knocks Bailey off the apron. Bowens comes in with a superkick, and a cover but Rush breaks it up at 2 and works Bowens over in the corner. Commentary says Rush is picking up where he left off from Collision yesterday and his match with Bowens. The crowd chant for Rush and he hits the horns dropkick on Bowens, then Clon comes off the top with a double footstomp on him, Ciampa hits a powerbomb across both knees on Clon, goes for a pin but Bandido breaks up the pin by hitting the 21-Plex on Ciampa, but Jet Speed break up his pin attempt. Entry #10 is Wheeler Yuta. He runs through the crowd, Kevin Knight tries to intercept him at ringside but Yuta hits a forearm, in the ring he ducks under a charge from Bailey and hits a Tope Suicida to the outside on Bowens. Bailey then does a flip dive over the top onto Yuta. Everyone starts fighting on the outside, and El Clon & Bandido do a sort of Spanish Fly to the outside, wiping everyone out. Ciampa Superplexes Knight off the top to the outside onto everyone. Holy Shit chant. PAC rolls Bailey in for the Black Arrow, he hits it and goes for the pin but it’s broken up by Ciampa who hits a running knee on him. Ciampa goes for a pin on PAC but Yuta breaks it up and throws Ciampa into the guard rail. Garcia comes in and puts the Dragon Tamer on Bailey and the fans boo, he wrenches back as Knight goes up top and hits the UFO Splash on Garcia and gets the 3 count. Knight is in disbelief as both PAC and Yuta made attempts to get back in the ring to try and stop the pin. Tony can’t believe it on commentary. Excalibur says what a 24 hours for Kevin Knight after losing the Trios titles on Collision. Pyro goes off on the stage as Knight celebrates with the title. Winner and TNT Champion: Kevin Knight

Tony says no woman is as bizarre in the Women’s division as Thekla. Thekla is flanked by Julia Hart and Skye Blue on the stage. Roderick Strong enters the set and I’ve just noticed Orange Cassidy is sleeping on the sofa with a blanket over the top half of his body. The coffee table has a bowl of oranges on it. Strong yells “ORANGE” a couple of times, then pulls the blanket off Cassidy. Orange says “Five more minutes Mom”. Roddy says “Come on he’s going to be here soon”. There’s a knock at the door and Kyle O’Reilly enters to cheers. Kyle says “Did someone say Conglomeration?” Orange and Roddy both say “No we didn’t”. Bell sounds and the fans chant Holy Shit before they even do anything. MJF and Kenny exchange words before they start and they stall at the start. They then start fast with both men going for their big moves. MJF escapes and heads out into the crowd. Commentators put over Omega’s illness and how last time these two men met Omega wasn’t 100%, Excalibur says Omega would have been 60-80% Bryan disagrees and says he was probably only 40% yikes. But Bryan says that’s how good Omega is, even at 40% he’s better than 99% of other pro wrestlers. Double yikes. That’s a bit of a burial of everyone else in my opinion. Fair enough for Omega to claim 60-80% but I think Bryan went too far there saying 40% it belittles everyone else especially MJF. MJF gets back in the ring, Omega offers his hand for a handshake and MJF laughs, then rakes his eyes. Omega with a rana, MJF goes to the outside, Omega was going for a dive but MJF walks out of the way, Omega with a baseball slide and dive over the top rope. He sets the table up and puts MJF on it. Omega goes up to the top turnbuckle, but MJF rolls back into the ring, just as Omega is about to do something, MJF dives into the ropes to crotch him and Omega falls off. Omega puts MJF back in and goes for the One Winged Angel but MJF rakes the eyes and escapes, amazingly we have duelling “Let’s Go Kenny/MJF” chants from the fans in Canada. Omega slingshots MJF into the corner but MJF lands on the middle turnbuckle, Omega gets behind him, lifts him up on his shoulders, MJF escapes out and rakes his back. MJF bites Omega’s head. Omega with a Rana and MJF goes to the outside. Omega pays tribute to Ibushi with a moonsault off the top rope to the outside.

AEW chant from the fans. MJF with a Kitchen Sink to Omega’s mid section, then a second one. MJF gets booed by the fans now, and MJF calls Omega a piece of shit and punches him in the stomach. More  boos from the fans. Tony says MJF is a horrible human being. Omega with a school boy roll-up for two. Both men try a cross body and there’s a double down. Omega with punches in the corner, then a Buckle Bomb. Missile Dropkick off the top to MJF’s back for a two count. Excalibur says Omega hasn’t been making good quality pins, and Bryan agrees with him. Omega goes up top, stands on the top rope but MJF cuts him off. MJF goes for the Tombstone Piledriver, but Omega escapes. MJF goes for another Canadian Destroyer but Omega delivers a knee. Omega has MJF on his shoulders again and carries him up the turnbuckles,  MJF nearly falls into the ring post, and amazingly Omega hits an Avalanche One Winged Angel and the fans erupt, “Holy Shit” chants, that was wild! Just as Omega tries to make the pin, MJF rolls to the outside. That was an incredible spot, and incredibly dangerous. Bryan encourages Kenny to get MJF back in the ring.
