AEW Dynamite & Collision 6th may 2026

This is a special 3-hour Dynamite & Collision. Tony Schiavone opened the show paying tribute to Ted Turner, Sting was brought out to no music and they both paid tribute to Ted Turner. Sting said if it weren’t for Big Ted no one would be there now. Tony said Sting’s protege Darby Allin will defend the World Title tonight against the TNT Champion “The Jet” Kevin Knight, Sting puts over Darby but also Tony Khan for being the next Billionaire in wrestling who is continuing wrestling on TNT & TBS. Tony explains the side plate design of the TNT and TBS titles with imagery of Ted’s mansion and Tony Khan wanting to honour the history of wrestling on TNT and TBS. They do a 10 bell salute for Ted Turner, and show an In Memoriam graphic for him.

The Dynamite opening plays, then back in the arena the Death Riders music plays. Excalibur welcomes us to the show, Tony & Taz are on commentary with him.

The opening match is going to be Jon Moxley vs. Juice Robinson in a Continental Title eliminator match. Renee is ringside talking up the history between Moxley & Juice and how Juice beat him in the past (in New Japan). Mox & Juice go head to head at the start. Mox went for a Piledriver but Juice catapulted him to the outside, then hit a Cannonball off the apron to the floor. Moxley has a cut on his left cheek. Moxley gets thrown over the timekeeper’s table and Juice hits an axe handle off the table. Juice continues to get the better of Mox, and the fans start to chant for Moxley. Juice throws Mox into the ring steps. Juice threw Mox back in the ring, but as he got up on the apron, Moxley hit him with a running boot and Juice fell off the apron and into the ring steps. Juice got back in to break the ref’s count and flipped Moxley off, so Moxley grabbed his hand and bit his finger. Taz said it was Hot Dog Jones. Taz defended Moxley, as Juice bit Moxley’s head earlier in the match. Mox puts Juice in an arm bar and pulls back on his fingers. Moxley with body shots in the corner. Excalibur brings up Will Ospreay training with the Death Riders. Juice hit a Leg Lariat for a double down. Jabs and chops by Juice, running clothesline in the corner, went for a Cannonball but Moxley lands a cutter. Moxley goes for 10 punches in the corner, but before he hits the 10th punch Juice delivers a Powerbomb, then a Cannonball in the corner, a Rana off the top rope and a lariat all in quick succession but only gets a 2 count. “Let’s go Moxley, Let’s go Juice” chants. Juice gets a near fall on a roll-up, then hits a Full Nelson Slam, sets up for the Left Hand of God, but Moxley bites his face, runs to the ropes and Juice drops him with the Left Hand of God. Diving Crossbody off the top by Juice but Moxley kicks out at 2. Both men exchange headbutts, then switch to forearm strikes, Moxley gets the better of things and charges at Juice in the corner, who sidesteps him, Moxley hits the post shoulder first and Juice gets a school boy roll-up for a 2 count. Juice went for Juice is Loose, but Moxley counters it into a sleeper, Moxley transitions into a Piledriver and gets a 2 count. Mox immediately goes for the Bulldog Choke, Juice tries to fight out but ultimately goes out. Winner: Jon Moxley

Juice is good but Moxley was more of a fan favourite here, and I felt like Juice was missing something, an edge maybe? After he hit the left hand of God I wondered what big move he would go for, and was surprised at a Top Rope Crossbody. I guess he can’t do the Pulp Friction anymore with Christian being in AEW. Juice is too much of a fun guy in AEW. Commentary referenced him dethroning Moxley in New Japan for the IWGP US Championship in 2019 but that was a very different Juice to this one.

Up next: Orange Cassidy vs. Dax Harwood. If Cassidy wins he and a partner of his choosing will get a Tag Team Title shot, if Harwood wins, FTR & Tommasso Ciampa will get a Trios Title shot.

Back live, we see Excalibur, Tony & Taz. Excalibur says their cameras caught the latest training session of The Death Riders and Will Ospreay earlier in the day. Daniel Garcia says Death Riders don’t care about Ospreay winning titles in Japan with his United Empire boys. Moxley is on the floor with Ospreay, he asks Ospreay if he’s heard of Death Ground, Ospreay says no. Moxley says standing on ground from which you cannot leave, there are no other options, do or die, that’s where Will is at right now, if they don’t get his neck or his head right. He says sure he could still have a career in AEW like the rest of the posers, he says Ospreay is different, he says this is the hardest 1% and Ospreay is on Death Ground. He says it’s going to be hard, but it’s the only good option. PAC stops the camera from filming.

Ringside, Dax Harwood comes out with Cash Wheeler, Stokely (dressed like Orange Cassidy), Tommasso Ciampa, Roppongi Vice and The Dogs. There’s a lot of people coming out here, is this to make up for the opening match not allowing anyone at ringside? Orange Cassidy comes out with Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong. Then The Young Bucks music plays and they come out onto the stage. Then Cope’s music plays and he comes out on the stage and then Christian’s music plays and he comes out. Cassidy walks to the ring.  Dax Harwood vs. Orange Cassidy. Excalibur says this has accidentally turned into a Lumberjack Match. Commentary put over how strong the tag team division is in AEW with all of the teams at ringside. Both men exchange moves and Orange gets the better of things with a side headlock, Dax tries a couple of chops in the corner but Orange no sells them, Orange hits a Superman Punch and Dax rolls to the outside. Orange goes after him but is on the heels side, and he gets distracted by his former friend Trent Baretta, he goes for another Superman Punch on Dax who side steps him and he hits the ring post. Dax wrapped Orange’s arm around the ring post, then distracted the ref, Stoke and Ciampa also took turns wrapping Orange’s arm around the ring post. Cope, Strong & O’Reilly went to Orange’s aid. Back in the ring Dax works Orange’s arm over. He tosses him to the outside in the heels area, Ciampa got a cheap shot in, and Nick Jackson tried to get the ref’s attention. Cassidy had a small package on Dax but Cash was up on the apron distracting the referee. Dax tries to get a Superplex but Cassidy fought back, jumped off the top but Dax hit a punch to the gut. Dax tried another Superplex from a different corner, but Orange bit his head and came off the top with a jumping DDT for a 2 count. The crowd get behind Orange, and Dax rolls to the outside with the heels in front of the commentators, Orange went for a suicide dive but Dax caught him and slammed his arm into the commentary table twice. Dax mocks Orange Cassidy with kicks. Orange does the hand pocket thing and hits a shotgun dropkick, kip up and a tornado DDT. Stokely got up on the apron and provided a distraction, allowing Dax to regain control, Orange managed a roll-up for a 2 count but as Dax kicked out he went into the ropes, David Finlay got a cheap shot, Dax rolled Orange up but only got a 2 count.  The ref gets distracted on the outside trying to keep the heels and faces apart. Meanwhile Dax grabbed the ring bell while the ref was distracted but the ref caught him with it. Orange hit a PK. Orange tried for an orange punch a couple of times and Dax tried a slingshot powerbomb, it took two attempts before he got it but Orange kicked out at 2. Orange with a Stun Dog Millionaire, lands the Orange Punch but only gets a 2 count due to a weak cover. Dax goes for a Cross Arm Breaker but Orange manages to get out and gets a flash pin on Dax for the win. Winner: Orange Cassidy. The heels immediately jumped Orange after the match, the faces rushed in and cleared most of the heels out, except for RPG Vice. Rocky Romero tries to make friends with Cope but O’Reilly & Strong hit a double team on Rocky, Cope hits a spear on Trent, and Christian kicks Rocky low. The faces celebrate with Orange Cassidy.

They show a Rush video package.

We come back to Jericho backstage mid interview with Renee Paquette, he walks out through the crowd to ringside with a microphone. The crowd chanted Y2J. Jericho says he’s done with 3 on 1 beat downs and the bullshit, he demands that Ricochet come out face to face, one on one. Ricochet comes out on his own, but GOA follows him out. Toa Liona barges Jericho as he walks to get a microphone and hands it to Ricochet. Ricochet says he told Jericho to leave, the crowd are booing Ricochet and Jericho says he can’t hear a word he’s saying. Ricochet says he doesn’t know if Jericho has a humiliation kink, he says he’s starting to get bored of beating him down all the time, Bishop Kaun whispers something to Ricochet. Ricochet says at Double or Nothing they should have a Stadium Stampede match and Ricochet can humiliate Jericho in the match he created. Ricochet says he wants to beat Jericho in a Stadium Stampede, he says last time they wrestled, Jericho had to pay 2 people to team with him and how did that work out? He says Jericho won’t find 4 people for Stadium Stampede. Jericho accepts the Stadium Stampede match, and he’ll find 4 people because he’s sure somebody likes him. And if he can’t find anyone, then he’ll face all of them on his own. He cheap shots Ricochet with the mic, manages to throw GOA to the outside, hits a Judas Effect on Ricochet, went for a Lionsault but Toa Liona dropped him with a punch and GOA double teamed him. The Hurt Syndicate runs out and chases The Demand off. Jericho puts Ricochet’s hat on his head backwards. Tony Schiavone calls Shelton Benjamin, Benjamin Shelton.

Backstage, Mina Shirakawa & Harley Cameron are with Renee. Mina tries to fire up Harley and says not to look out there, but to look in there and hits her chest, she then rips her shirt open to reveal her bra, Mina apologises saying she thought Harley was in her gear, Harley says she isn’t, but it doesn’t matter and tears her shirt off and says the wrath is back. Excalibur says that was a peculiar way to inspire her but it seemed to work.

AEW International Championship: Kazuchika Okada © vs. Bryan Keith. Don Callis and Lance Archer accompany Okada to ringside. Callis joins commentary.  It’s been a while since we’ve seen Keith, Excalibur says he’s been picking up wins in ROH and on the indies. Keith starts strong with some loud chops and a hook kick, Okada manages to sit him on the top rope though and dropkicks him to the outside. Okada hits a DDT on the floor. Okada’s chest is bright pink from the chops. Okada leaves Keith by the commentary table and Don delivers a couple of kicks, Taz says to Don that he's still got it then realised Don didn’t have his headset on. Back in the ring, Keith lays in more chops that sounded loud, Okada tries to no-sell them and then gets a DDT for a 2 count. Okada with a running back elbow in the corner, but every now and then Keith lands a chop. Scoop slam by Okada and goes up top for an Elbow but Keith knew it was coming, he tried an Exploder Suplex and tried an arm bar, but Okada was too strong, Keith hit a knee to Okada’s face. Then a running elbow and a running DDT for a two count. Commentary put over Keith. Okada went for a DDT on the floor, but Keith hit one of his own. Back in the ring, he signals for the end and goes for the Exploder Suplex again but again Okada was too strong, Okada came back with an Air Raid Crash across the knee. Scoop slam from Okada and an elbow drop off the top. Okada went for a Rainmaker but Keith got out, Dropkick from Okada. Okada went for another rainmaker but Keith got a headbutt. Keith tried three times and finally hit a Tiger Driver for a 2 count. Don Callis puts Keith over on commentary. Keith went for a Diamond Dust but Okada countered it into a Landslide and followed it up with the Rainmaker for the 3 count. Winner: Kazuchika Okada © Post-match, Don has a mic and says Okada has something important to say. Okada says he already has the International Title unlike Takeshita but he wants more, he says he is coming for the AEW World Title, bitch. The fans cheer.

Video package for Andrade El Idolo.

Backstage “Speedball” Mike Bailey and “The Jet” Kevin Knight are together, Speedball says Knight will be Jet2Belts. Kevin says Darby said he’d fight until his body gives out, well that’s what is going to happen tonight when he becomes the new AEW World Champion.

Backstage Samoa Joe is with Anthony Bowens and Shibata. He says Joe put an offer out to Will Ospreay last week which isn’t being heard. He says men like Jon Moxley are trying to tell you how to think, he wouldn’t do that, he says Ospreay is destined for greatness, he says with men like The Opps at his side, they can make him succeed. Joe says the choice is Ospreay’s and says he is extending his hand one last time, otherwise it will become a fist instead.

This whole Opps thing trying to recruit Ospreay is more bizarre to me than Ospreay hanging around with the Death Riders. Didn’t Joe say two weeks ago that they weren’t recruiting? But now they are recruiting? Also during that promo you could hear Harley Cameron in the background and what sounded like agents going over their match.

Women’s Tag Team Match: Harley Cameron & Mina Shirakawa vs. Kris Statlander & Hikaru Shida. Cameron comes out first, then Mina who dances on the stage. Both women have pink hair. Statlander comes out first for her team, then Shida. Statlander overpowers Mina at the start and mocks her dance. Statlander gets a two count off a backslide but Mina comes back with a dropkick. Shida tags herself in, then Harley says she wants the tag so Mina tags her in. Shida then tags back out to Statlander. Harley with a headscissors on Statlander, tags in Mina, hits a Russian Leg Sweep and Mina hits a Tornillo for a 2 count. Statlander came back with a back breaker and a running knee in the corner. Tag to Shida who hits a running knee on the outside to Mina. Shida then mocks Harley. Shida did a spinning inverted bear hug on Mina. Taz didn’t know who Tony was talking about and said you’re using a lot of pronouns, he says Tony’s been doing it since 1962, Tony corrects him and says 1973. Statlander gets a tag and hits a delayed Suplex on Mina, holding her up for a long time. The crowd cheered Statlander, and she got a 2 count. Tag to Shida who comes back in, she hits a snap suplex and puts a rear chinlock on Mina who gets her foot on the rope. Shida lifts Mina up and places her horizontally across the middle turnbuckle, she tags Statlander in, and Statlander suplexes Shida into Mina and both her feet went straight into Mina’s face! Shida gets tagged back in and Mina begins to fight back, hitting a rolling elbow and both women are down. Hot tags on both sides. Harley gets the better of Statlander, with a crossbody off the top and a Tornado DDT, the crowd are behind Harley who hits a Shining Wizard for a 2 count. Harley tags Mina back in who hits a dropkick off the top, and a tilt a whirl facebuster but Shida breaks up the pin. Statlander cut Mina off on the top and delivered a Superplex and immediately followed up with a Michinoku Driver for a 2 count. Shida gets tagged in, and she accidentally hits Statlander with a jumping knee. Harley gets a tag and hits a swinging neckbreaker and a jackknife cover for a 2 count, they exchange pins and near falls, Harley with a roundhouse kick and a backstabber, she sets Shida up for something but Statlander hit her with an axe kick she glares at Shida, who hits a Falcon Arrow on Harley for the 3 count while Statlander stops Mina from getting in the ring. Winners: Hikaru Shida & Kris Statlander. Statlander looked unhappy after the match.

Backstage Swerve Strickland says he was after power 2 months ago, he says real power is deciding who gets to eat, more power means more fear, and there is nothing more dangerous than a man who desires power and he wants it all.

Backstage Renee is with Bandido and Brody King, Bandido says Swerve is right that he is the most wanted man in pro wrestling and he is easy to find. Brody King says if Strickland messes with his friends then there will be hell to pay.

AEW World Championship: Darby Allin © vs. “The Jet” Kevin Knight. Knight comes out first as challenger, Excalibur says that Kevin Knight is on fire. Taz says this match is personal as Knight injured Allin during the Continental Classic. Excalibur explains that Knight beat Allin in the Continental Classic and that Darby had to go to the hospital afterward and was ruled out of the rest of the competition and that Darby would like to avenge that loss tonight. Taz says Allin doesn’t forgive or forget. Both men lock up but neither can get the advantage. Duelling “Let’s go Darby, Let’s go Kevin” chants. Darby offers his hand and Knight slapped it away. Both men exchange holds and we have an old fashioned wrestling match. Knight with a leg trip and then offers Darby his hand, Darby kicks it away. Knight gets a side headlock, they leap over each other and Darby gets a side headlock of his own. Excalibur says Darby takes risks but has a great wrestling base and Taz puts over his amateur wrestling background. Both men continue to dodge each other and they both have the same idea with clotheslines and both men are down. “Let’s Go Darby, Let’s go Kevin” chants again. Knight with a beautiful leaping rana off the top and a Dropkick which sends Darby to the outside. Knight trash talks him from inside, rolls him back in and gets a 2 count. Knight with a scoop slam for a 2 count. Knight starts to work over Darby’s left leg/knee. This is a nice chance to see Knight as a bit of a heel here. Darby delivers a few chops but Knight launches him into the turnbuckle and gets a two count. Taz says he’s never seen anyone take as much punishment as Darby. Darby manages a dropkick, some slaps and a Code Red for a 2 count. Darby did his crazy dive and launched himself into Knight with serious velocity, they show a replay and it looks like Knight hit the back of his head on the commentary table as he landed. Taz says he hopes he’s alright, Tony says it was Whiplash Jones. Darby sits Knight on a steel chair and goes up to the top turnbuckle for his wacky shotgun dropkick, but Knight gets up on the apron, chops Darby, then leaps up and hits an incredible Rana to the floor. He climbs up on the commentary table to celebrate. Knight with a series of strikes to Darby who is sitting on the commentary table, Knight springboards up onto the top rope and delivers a leaping clothesline and wipes out Darby. “Holy Shit” chants from the fans. Knight hurt his knee from that. Back in the ring, Darby manages to get him in a Scorpion Death Lock but Knight gets to the ropes. Darby went up for a Coffin Drop but Knight got his knees up and he hurt himself. Taz brings up MJF working over Knight’s knee last week. Darby ends up upside down in the tree of woe and Knight delivers a Coast to Coast dropkick to Darby which is what apparently knocked Darby out in the Continental Classic. Knight goes up top and hits the UFO Splash, slow cover because of the knee injury and Darby manages to kick out at 2. Darby lures Knight into a Guillotine front face lock and body scissors Knight eventually manages to get out of it, but Darby drapes Knight across the top rope, delivers a Coffin Drop to Knight’s back and follows it up with a normal Coffin Drop to get the 3 count and retain the title. Winner: Darby Allin ©

Knight looked a million dollars in this one, Darby not so much. I mean obviously Knight was never winning this match, but he looked amazing. They are cramming these title defenses in for Darby which to me just says he’s going to be dropping the title back to MJF at Double or Nothing.

Sting walks down to ringside as the Dynamite portion of the show finishes, and we go straight into Collision. Sting helps Darby up and then offers his hand to Kevin Knight. He raises Darby’s hand and then raises Knight’s hand. Darby and Knight shake hands. Sting leaves and Darby is left in the ring with the World Title. MJF’s music hits and he gets a big pop. Taz says MJF wants to congratulate Darby. MJF says he doesn’t know what’s worse, him being in the Carolinas or Darby’s reign of terror is continuing, he says no one wants to see his title reign continuing, he says it’s time he gives him his rematch. Darby says no, he has to put something on the line. MJF says he’ll barter with him, he says okay he’ll put his scarf on the line and a good portion of the crowd cheers this. Darby says no. MJF says he’ll put his Dynamite Diamond Ring on the line. Taz says this is big. Darby says no. MJF offers him a million dollars. Darby says he used to be homeless living under a bridge so his money is no good to him. MJF calls him a troll and says okay what do you want, everyone has a price (What? Is he Ted Dibiase now?) Darby says he wants something he values the most, something he flew 15 hours to Turkey for and had put on his head, he’s talking about his hair. Darby says MJF is the most vain piece of shit he’s ever met, he says he wants his hair. MJF says “be reasonable” and the fans chant “Bald” at him. Darby says next week they can have a contract signing Title vs Hair. MJF drops the mic and walks out. Taz says Darby is being unreasonable. Kazuchika Okada’s music plays and he comes out, Taz brings up Okada mentioning the World Title on Dynamite, Darby looks on at Okada in shock. Tony says everyone is lining up for Darby. Okada gets a mic and says next Wednesday he wants to face Darby for the World Title. Darby snatches the mic from Okada and says “It’s on, bitch” and leaves. Okada stares him down from inside the ring.

Backstage Renee is with a smiley Will Ospreay and the head doctor, he says Ospreay was in better shape because of whatever training he’s been doing and he may be able to clear him next week. Ospreay says to Renee that he appreciates training with the Death Riders, but he will never be one of them.

AR Fox vs. “Speedball” Mike Bailey Bailey did a wacky spring board dive to the outside. AR Fox hit a DDT in the ropes. Two very athletic guys but the crowd were not into this one at all. Bailey missed a running shooting star press. Fox hit a nice Corkscrew Brainbuster but Bailey rolled out of the ring. Fox tried to get the crowd going, and did a flip to the outside, and a Swanton back in the ring for a two count. These guys have worked incredibly hard but the crowd are just not interested. Fox with a 450 Splash but lands on his feet, Bailey went for the Ultimate Weapon but Fox moved and Speedball landed on his feet. Bailey got it a few seconds later for the win. Winner: “Speedball” Mike Bailey.

Earlier today, Willow Nightingale cut a promo about being the TBS Champion and what a privilege it is to be champion and to have had nine successful title defences as champion. She says she’s a fighting champion and is going to continue to defend the legacy of the championship.

Backstage PAC is applauding Darby Allin with the rest of the Death Riders standing behind him. PAC calls Darby the indestructible boy who is still the champion. PAC says not to forget about him, he says in AEW they are 2-1 in his favour and he thinks he should have a shot at his AEW World Championship, he says he is one mountain Darby will never truly conquer.

Oh boy, they really are lining up title defenses for Darby before he ultimately drops the title back to MJF.

Jamie Hayter vs. Skye Blue. Renee is ringside talking about the Triangle People and Hayter waves at Renee as she makes her entrance. Renee mentions that Alex Windsor is injured. Excalibur says Hayter had been injured by Thekla recently. They say Blue is looking for four singles wins in a row. Commentary confirms Darby vs. PAC is official for the 1 hour special they are doing on Saturday. They question Darby having so many challengers and making so many defenses. Back to the match, Blue came off the top with a crossbody but Hayter immediately launched her with a fall away slam. Blue came back and worked over Hayter on the outside. Hayter fights back with machine gun chops in the corner, but Blue turns it around again, then sends her to the outside. Hayter reverses Blue into the guard rail and she ends up seated on a chair and Hayter delivers 10 punches. Blue drop toe holds Hayter into steel steps and gets a 2 count inside the ring. Blue with a high choke with her boot in the corner. Hayter comes back with a missile dropkick off the top, and a release German Suplex. Hayter with an Exploder suplex for a 2 count. Hayter with a Spinebuster, both women exchange near falls with pinning combinations, they exchange kicks, Blue with a knee strike, tried a Code Blue but Hayter sat down and got a near fall. Both women with headbutts and they fall to the mat. Hayter with shoulders to the mid section in the corner, Blue with a Cheeky Nandos kick, Hayter tries a sleeper on the top rope, they exchange slaps on the top turnbuckle, Hayter lands the Hayter-Ade off the top rope for the win. Winner: Jamie Hayter. In the crowd we see Thekla and Julia Hart, Thekla applauds her and is wearing a leopard print coat. Hayter hits another Hayter Ade in the ring to try and bait the Triangle people but they don’t move.

Backstage Don Callis is with the family, Don says Mark Davis is going to squash Jack Perry for the National Title, Callis says Okada just defended his International Title, and everyone should be afraid of Okada challenging Darby Allin for the World Title. Takeshita says no, Okada shouldn’t be worried about challenging for the World Title he should be worried about defending his International Title against him at Double or Nothing. Okada and Takeshita bicker and Don tells them to stop, he says Takeshita is starting to sound like Kenny Omega. He says Okada is his hand picked choice to take the World Title from Darby Allin, Andrade (with his new IWGP Global Championship) tries to stop Don at that point and says “How you know? How you know?” and walks off. Don says he’s using his line on him, he says he’s Don Callis and he knows everything. Back ringside Excalibur says that Don’s decision wasn’t sitting well with Andrade and Takeshita.

RUSH won a squash match in about 20 seconds. The guy he faced was called Manny Lo, Taz said he should have been called Manny Go, go get out of there. RUSH did his catchphrase after the match.

Video package of Jack Perry on the Jurassic Express, Perry says Mark Davis is a big stupid dog and he’s already beaten him and he’ll do it again. Perry climbs a mountain and says if Mark Davis doesn’t like that then fuck you. What a nice young man.

Main Event: Death Riders (Wheeler Yuta, Daniel Garcia & Claudio Castagnoli) and The Dogs (David Finlay & Clark Connors) vs. The Bang Bang Gang (Austin Gunn, Colten Gunn & Ace Austin) and The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson). 10 man tag team party match. Death Riders came out through the crowd with Moxley and Marina Shafir. While The Dogs make their entrance, the Death Riders are doing pushups around ringside. Moxley joins commentary. The heels intercepted the faces on the ramp as they made their way to the ring. Four of the babyfaces suplex four of the heels in unison and Moxley questioned whether it was a Centipede Suplex. There wasn’t a lot of traditional tag team wrestling on this one to begin with, lots of tag team moves before Finlay managed to isolate Austin Gunn and the heels worked him over. On commentary Moxley asked where Nigel was he thought this was Collision, Taz says he’s Nigel. Moxley asks if Nigel couldn’t show up for 1 hour? Tony says he’ll be on the 1 hour special on Saturday. Austin tries to begin a comeback but all the heels take out the faces off the apron and then proceed to 5 on 1 on him, Claudio does a giant swing and Yuta dropkicks him but the faces break up the pin. Austin manages to hit a flatliner on Claudio and gets the hot tag to Colten Gunn who clotheslines all of the heels one by one, he takes out both Yuta and Garcia, hits a Back Suplex into a slam on Yuta for a 2 count. He went for a Fameasser but Claudio grabbed his leg from the outside, Ace Austin flipped to the outside to take out Claudio. Colten missed a splash in the corner and Daniel Garcia put the Dragon Tamer on him and Yuta did a running stomp, but Colten kicked out at 2. Ace Austin hits a DVD on Yuta, Claudio boots him and runs through the Bucks with clotheslines. The Gunns hit the 3:10 to Yuma on Claudio. Everyone comes in and double clothesline each other and the fans chant “AEW”. Yuta and Austin are legal and exchange strikes before Yuta gouges his eyes, Ace hits a dropkick, Yuta rebounds off the ropes and tries a release German Suplex but Ace lands on his feet, the Bucks come back in and they triple superkick Yuta. The Bucks hit suicide dives to the outside and Ace hits a running neckbreaker (kind of like a blockbuster) on Yuta and pins him for the 3 count. Winners: The Bang Bang Gang (Austin Gunn, Colten Gunn & Ace Austin) and The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson). Post-match Juice Robinson runs down to celebrate with the faces. Excalibur says AEW is the home of pro wrestling and plugs the matches on the 1 hour “Fairway to Hell” special on Saturday.

The Wonderful Review

I have added some thoughts already during the review, but to summarise some things:

Darby Allin is 100% dropping the title back to MJF, especially with the stipulation being added, on top of Double or Nothing taking place in New York (MJF's home state). And even more so with them trying to pack in a million defences for him, which I think is a negative. A World Title match should be a big deal, it shouldn't be every single week, or as we are going to see, three defences in 7 days. The commentators can put over Darby's wrestling ability, but we need to see it for ourselves. Kevin Knight looked amazing and it was disappointing to see him lose the match, obviously he was never going to win the match. That's two weeks running where I've been more impressed with Darby's opponents rather than Darby himself. There is a problem with Darby as World Champion, but I'm willing to overlook it as we're going to be getting MJF winning the title belt back very soon.

The 3 hours was probably a bit much for me, Dynamite was totally fine, but the extra hour of Collision I think was a little too far, plus I felt like the crowd ran out of steam in the Collision hour. It's nice to have great pro wrestling, but it's hard to show a genuine interest when you 1000% know who's going to win. If there's a complaint about AEW, it's that, that with the exception of pay-per-view matches, the majority of the time you know who's going to win, and so the shows are not essential viewing. You can easily catch the highlights on YouTube (which is what I always did over the last six years of AEW).

Let's talk Women's wrestling, for seeing Harley Cameron wrestle for the first time, I thought she was very good. It will be interesting to see what happens with Shida & Statlander long term. Jamie Hayter and Skye Blue were pretty great, I have no problem seeing Hayter face Thekla again for the World title if that's where they are headed.

The Opps look pretty dumb at the moment with their Ospreay promos, and Ospreay seemingly ignoring them.

There also seems to be a split in the Don Callis family with Andrade potentially leaving, you feel like Takeshita will leave sooner or later.

Jericho having a Stadium Stampede match and needing to find four tag team partners is interesting, particularly with The New Day being free agents. Although who the extra two guys will be on The Demand's side I don't know.

They did a good job with the Orange Cassidy/Dax Harwood match and it turning into an impromptu Lumberjack Match, although I'm not a fan of making a Tag Team Title match for the pay-per-view, then having FTR defend the titles before the pay-per-view.

It's the same with Darby offering MJF a contract signing for a World Title match, then accepting not one, but two title matches before that contract signing. It's very busy and I think it detracts from things, and makes the title look weak in my opinion. Like I said earlier, title matches should be made to feel special, they should primarily be reserved for the pay-per-views, with rare instances that the big titles get defended on TV.

I'm intrigued enough to watch the 1-hour special on Saturday so will likely put a review of that up. It'll be interesting to watch a 1-hour wrestling show.
